A Thousand Years...

            “I love her.”

Her heart stopped as she heard those words leave his lips.  She had spent so much time falling for him only to have her heart broken in a second.  She feared she would never again feel such deep love for anyone.  She stood there in the pouring rain, like a statue, for a thousand years…

Men and women from every walk of life passed her by and gave no notice… then, when she had given up hope, he stopped.  He saw something he had never seen before.  Such pain, such sorrow.  He felt the urge to reach out to her, and as he touched her hand, she awoke from her sleep and he took her on an adventure.

Down the road, through the trees, to the depths of the forest where two trees stood… woven together.  He pulled her through and they emerged into their own Wonderland.

All her fears and all her sadness melted away.   As the weight was lifted, she fell to the ground and lay there.  He lay next to her, no words exchanged, just beautiful silence.

They lay there, never again alone, for a thousand years…
